Mercedes-Benz Unveils 2026 S-Class Facelift in India at Rs 2.20 Crore, Introduces Plug-in Hybrid Flagship Sedan
Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 S-Class facelift in India at Rs 2.20 crore, introducing the S 450e plug-in hybrid with 435 bhp, 115 km electric range, and advanced MB.OS tech. The flagship sedan features major design updates, luxury interiors, and enhanced safety, competing with the BMW 7-Series.
The 2026 S-Class facelift is offered in two variants, Launch Edition Exclusive Line priced at Rs 2.20 crore and Manufaktur AMG Line priced at Rs 2.38 crore. Compared to its predecessor, the new model witnesses a price increase of Rs 35 lakh in the Indian market. Mercedes-Benz has already commenced pre-bookings for the sedan, with deliveries scheduled to begin around Diwali in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Under the hood, the S 450e plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with a rear-mounted electric motor and a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output stands at 435 bhp and 650 Nm of torque, delivered to the rear wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. The luxury sedan is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz claims an all-electric driving range of up to 115 km. The battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes using a 60 kW charger. The vehicle also offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 32.2 kmpl under the WLTP cycle. In global markets, the S-Class is additionally offered with a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol six-cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 404 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, with a 0 to 100 kmph time of 4.9 seconds.
The 2026 S-Class facelift introduces extensive technological upgrades inside the cabin. It features a 14.4-inch OLED central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch co-passenger display. The sedan runs on the latest MB.OS operating system and supports over-the-air software updates along with an augmented reality head-up display. Rear passengers are equipped with 13.1-inch entertainment screens, while the cabin is enhanced by a Burmester 4D sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and advanced connected car technology.
Comfort and convenience features include four-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, a surround-view camera system, and multiple airbags. The sedan also features adaptive air suspension with E-Active Body Control and a rear-wheel steering system for enhanced ride dynamics.
In terms of design, the overall silhouette remains consistent with the outgoing model, while introducing a more refined front fascia. The sedan features a larger chrome-accented grille with integrated three-pointed star elements and illuminated surrounds. The Digital Light LED headlamps now incorporate Mercedes-Benz’s signature star projection graphics. At the rear, updated LED tail lamps with dynamic light animations and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz logo further enhance its visual identity. Redesigned bumpers, larger air intakes, new alloy wheels, and fresh paint options complete the exterior updates.
Inside, the cabin has been significantly revised with upgraded digital interfaces and refined trim elements. The centre console has been redesigned with new finishes and enhanced detailing. The four-seater configuration offers executive rear seats with recline capability up to 43.5 degrees. All seats provide heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Mercedes-Benz has also improved cabin insulation to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness levels. Ambient lighting has been expanded across the dashboard, footrests, centre console, armrests, cup holders, door panels, and air conditioning vents, further elevating the luxury experience.
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift strengthens the brand’s flagship position in the ultra-luxury sedan segment, combining electrified performance, advanced digital architecture, and heightened comfort standards in a highly competitive global luxury automotive landscape.
